I bought a Vango Icarus in 2011 and have used it only about three times. The last time it was extremely windy - inside the tent, I remember looking at the seams and seeing all the stitching holes looking very stretched. I was a bit put off by the weather, didn’t camp for a couple years, then bought a bell tent so I have to worry less about windy weather.
My question is - should i reseal the seams on my Icarus before I use or decide to sell? Does the stretching mean it is likely to leak now?
I know most people would say just pitch it, hose it and find out, then seal if needed, but I have no garden and no indoor space to dry it once wet, so the whole process is daunting me. Which is why the poor tent has been sat in its bag for 5 years being ignored!
You'd have to pitch it to apply seam sealant (you apply on inside only). If it wasn't leaking the last time you used it, why not just sell it as it is if you don't plan on keeping it? Or, if you keep it, take seam sealant with you next time you go away, then you have a choice on whether to do it or not.
