It wasn't old and didn't need any repairs but on it's first outing with us it leaked like a colander so we're certainly not cabanon fans so will happily lend scissors to help with the cutting of the canvas

I've been having a similar dilemma. We have a Cabanon Andorra - perfect - but husband can't stand the weight of it. Just bought an Outwell Nevada SP but still want a tarp. Really not sure which to buy and the idea of cutting up the Cabanon has crossed my mind too. Thing is I love it and there would be actual tears. Husband wants it gone and it's a hard thing to hide away without him knowing!
why not take the Andorra to a tent / canvas workshop and have them put in a quality zipper around the edges of the back wall of your Andorra.
then, by not fitting the bedrooms into the Andorra - you can unzip this back wall and place it over the front of your Nevada creating a awning - the Cabanon tents often have multiple doors at front and sides and by opening these you can have tarp effect with them all open, or an enclosed awning in bad weather conditions giving you an incredibly versatile awning / tarp /shelter unit in beautiful canvas.
