For the first time this year we are camping on a hard standing(shingle), as this is a new experience for us, always been on grass, what is the best way to protect the groundsheet from getting holes, and our feet.
Also ,how easy is it to knock in pegs on a hard pitch.
Have you thought of interlocking mats . We bought ours in packs of 4 or 6 . They have holes for breathing . These are lovely for protection and walking on.
We use ours in our awning but have also given some to our son for his tent .
I’m sorry I couldn’t add a link .
Most caravan or camp shops sell them .
We have used the same as James Watt provided a link for.
We also used the footprint groundsheet on top of that.
It was pea gravel we were on which is small round stones so no sharp edges and no damage caused..
------------- It is a wise man who has something to say.
It is a fool who has to say something.
To help protect the ZiG on our tent, we use a cheap Tarp (5m x 4m) and on top of that goes a 1mm thick butyl pond liner, inside the tent on top of the ZiG goes a custom made tent carpet.
The above must have worked, as we got the tent back in 2008, and the ZiG is still as new.
Thank you all for the great suggestions.
we have looked at the interlocking mats, but found them a bit pricy and bulky.
the mesh roll does sound the way to go, so going to look into it further.
thanks again
