My first trip of the year was planned for me & my 10 yr old a couple of weeks ago, but I had to cancel at the last minute because of wind forecast to be 40 mph + gusting to 64 mph isn't my cup of tea.
10 yr old was busy last weekend so we re-scheduled for this weekend and forecasts have started to creep over 30 mph again.
I'd have thought either of your tents should be OK with a bit of weather.
My son's favourite thing at that sort of age was being in the tent in foul weather.

Or a spot of impromptu hang gliding if it gets really gusty

My cut off is about 30mph. After that it stops being fun!
It's you that sets the limits - that's entirely up to you and you know your limits. If you don't like camping in winds higher than 30mph, it's entirely up to you.
Try a whole variety of weather websites - they're not always spot on. Or can you change your pitch on the site if you've booked or move to another, more sheltered site?
