No company would do what Outwell have done unless there was potential for SERIOUS damage to their reputation.
This cannot be a handful of tents and they are "taking the precaution", this would have to be a serious production line issue.
Especially at this time of year, they will be missing out on a large number of sales for the 2019 season, financially, 2019 could a be a write off for them.
I’ve had 2017 and 2018 model year Vermont 7SA air tents from them, 3 in total all faulty. I have given up and switched to a Kampa Studland Classic.
I thought the 2019 Outwell range looked brilliant and hoped it would be a step change in quality, I will admit I was very tempted to try the Stonelake tent, I am glad I didn’t now.
As they would never admit to a serious production problem during the problems I had in 2017 and 2018 I can only assume that the 2019 issues are now far more serious.
Go on Outwell to bite the bullet and recall. If I had bought a faulty product that failed whilst I was away and later found out the company had known it had a serious problem I would be livid. Better for the products to be withdrawn now so they can be checked rather than wait for the customer to discover the fault and have to contact the company.
They take their reputation very seriously. The issue is on the stitching along the zip of the sleeve that holds the inner bladder, not actually part of the tent sort of. I understand it is a a low percentage but more than what any company might be happy to just let go. Also as I understand it the tents are obviously in batch numbers but I think the beams were not so much so its a harder job to know which tents they are in which makes sense why the full recall. The pily cotton 2019 tents are fine. I say well done Outwell even though its going to cost me as a business, at least I can sleep at night without worry about every call i get.

If this is indeed the case, why are Outwell still selling them direct on their website? The Lake ones are available for immediate delivery. Ah unless as suggested the poly cotton are ok. My Stone Lake 5 seems ok. Full report next week!
