Hi all, been camping with the family a few years now, and like to treat ourselves to something camping related every year. Well sorted for a warm and comfy night's sleep. If you had £50 to spend on camping gear/gadgets/accessories, what would you treat yourself to?
If you don't have one already, you should be able to get a portable toilet for little more than £50, which would increase your choice of sites (if you have C&CC membership) to include those Certificated Sites and Temporary Holiday Sites which don't have facilities.
Or for rather less than £50 you could buy a tent-specific hook-up lead, which to take full advantage of would mean using sites with available EHU points (so you might need to pre-book), effectively reducing your site choices and costing around £3pn in additional pitch charges, admittedly having the opportunity to save a little gas.
For about half of your£50 you can get a halogen oven and never be without your Sunday roast. and yes it will run off a 10amp supply providing you only have that running, and you don't get a too powerful one.
Or same sort of price get a Teppanyaki grill plate and never be without a cooked breakfast
Waitrose have great summer picnic ware, the John Lewis website has some gorgeous melamine and other picnic ware on their websites.
A fire pit with folding legs (if you haven’t got one).
And this is beyond ridiculous but I have now seen some beautiful anodised colourful poles for using with a tarp: Red by Robens , or bright green or a darker green on the Canvas Tents website. Oh, and anodised red tent pegs from Robens.
But only because I do not need one single more item of camping gear. But if I had money I didn’t need and the rule was ‘camping gear’ I might just spend it on anodised red or green tarp poles.
Hmm.
I don't really need anything for 50 quid. Maybe two force ten apexes for the tarp.

HackSawBob, if a site has no facilities where do you empty your portable camping toilet?
If it's a Certificated Site or a Temporary Holiday Site it will, as a minimum, have a Chemical Toilet Disposal Point and a (separate) drinking water supply. Some CSs may also have toilets and possibly showers and some THSs have access to such facilities on a host commercial site or other establishment.
