Hi all, we picked up the Outwell Nevada 5p (2019) last week and took it out this weekend.
Generally it’s great but I found in abit of wind (20mph) it was very flappy and flexed a lot, Much more than our fibre glass poled vango did. We’ve a couple of issues with both our outwell tents and I’m wondering if we should go back to vango? We also couldn’t get the brow pole in, it was almost a poles length to long.
Anyway does anyone have a Nevada? Have you had any issues in wind? Should it flex a lot?
I have a Nevada 5. I have a post in the Coping with Wind chain of messages that shows my one in wind. It later had 2 poles broken in the wind.
It is quite vulnerable to wind, when the wind hits it in particular direction. I think it's quite good if it's backside faces directly into the wind but is at risk if 35mph winds hitting it side on.
Thank you. It was sort of bought with the intention of being a slightly bigger fair weather tent but we have the extension so took it out this weekend. We were pitched back into the wind and protected by a bank behind us. Disappointing that we won’t get more regular use out of it though.
I have the Nevada M, bought a few years ago. I had the same problem with the brow pole, as its a tight fit. Had to insert it before anything was tightened and clips attached to poles.
The tent being big and more up right, like any tent of this nature, it does need to be bum in wind. I pitched mine side on to wind, (my fault for not noticing wind direction) I had to open both side doors to relieve pressure.
I acquired a Vango Zeal, it performed horrendously when erected bum in wind; the back caved right in. That was first time out in wind.
Whereas my Vango Oregon performance was outstanding in highwinds and gusts, because this tent was more aerodynamic.

Due to both the above problems I changed to metal poled tents years ago and have never looked back. The tent I have now has fibreglass roof poles and metal legs so a combination but still very rigid in high winds from any direction.
Some years ago I had an Outwell Carolina which had metal poles but I often had difficulty getting the poles on the pins. Outwell are very tight (literally) and don't use more material than they really have to so everything is stretched tight and sometimes difficult. I found one side of the tent always sat too high regardless of how I tried to manipulate it.
Having had Coleman and now Sunncamp tents I don't think I would choose an Outwell again.
