Went on our first camping trip at weekend and our tent has a 6inch gap along central seating area/door, the opposite side is fine as we don't use that door and it's pretty close to the ground. Anybody got any suggestions to fill the gap and stop the draught. Tent is a tunnel style tent with bedrooms either end and seating bit in middle.
We had one like that, basically the door zipped down at each side but not all the way round, like they are on doors with flymesh, my wife made me get rid of it, it was a great tent aside from no mesh on doors which created that problem
That is an annoying problem with my tent. The side door, which I don't use, has mesh and a zip all the way round. The front door, which I do use has no mesh so flies can get in but can't get out again. As there is no mesh there is a gap at the bottom of the door with just a 2" strip of velcro holding it closed in the middle. Fine for ventilation but crawling insects, mice, maybe even rats and rabbits could squeeze through the gap. I am thinking about sticking some velcro all the way along but the heat might cause the sticky back velcro to come off and sewing some on would be a difficult job.
I use a ground sheet to come up the sides to cover any gaps, Works a treat.

My sewn in groundsheet is high at the door creating a step but when the door is closed it just loosely overlaps the step and apart from a short strip of velcro in the middle there is nothing to seal it along the bottom so you can stick your hand through and touch the grass outside...and anything that wants to could crawl inside through the gap.

Same as my sunncamp shadow air, which is now not mine because of that reason, and the wife
I don't know why all tents aren't made with fly nets on both doors and sealed with a zip. It is stupid just having fly netting on one door and even more stupid having a sewn in groundsheet and then a gap at the door big enough for a Black Widow to get through

We've had this issue this week with our new Kampa Kielder. As it has a lay flat entrance the ground sheet just fastens at the sides and bottom of the door with toggles. We hung a sheet across which stopped the draft temporarily and next day went and bought some sticky backed velcro and put it right along thr bottom of thr door, this then connected to the velcro already on the lay flat entrance. Made a massive difference and no problem with it coming away, it's stuck firm.

Thank you for that advice...I will give stick on velcro a go

No problem, we've gone right across the bottom of the door and can't believe what a difference it has made, hope it works for you too. Love this forum for sharing ideas, we've certainly benefitted over the years.
