Hi I am hoping someone here will be able to advise us. we have a secondhand Bardani canvas tent. The previous owner made an attempt at reproofing which has left it very streaky where coverage is patchy. Water is not repelling off the tent. I have asked a company about washing and reproofing but they declined fearing it may shrink the pole zipper inserts. Can you apply re proofing solution with a sprayer if so which product would you recommend.
Before considering any potential treatments I'd pitch it and hose it and hose it again. In this weather it'll dry quickly. Then, I'd hose it again. And again. Then assess.
Your not supposed to waterproof a canvas tent. The idea is wet it/weather it to make the fibres swell thus closing the holes.
Previous owners may have done damage by doing this.

If only it was as straightforward as that.
What "damage" are you alluding to, as some proofers have rot and mildew inhibitors therein?
