In answer to what size is my rucksack... sort of Fiesta shaped 
I take what I have decided is the minimum, for me, for my own comfort and what I like to do, be that cooking in the open on my little stove, or sitting in a comfortable chair watching the stars emerge.
A good night's sleep is essential.
I agree to the comment about food and clothes being one of the key differences between a one-nighter and longer stay. Longer stays would entail a cool box of some description.
I tend to go somewhere during the day but the camp experience just chillin', is all part of my micro-escapes too. Although I did camp for a couple of nights when working at Salisbury Museum giving a talk and dance class on Egyptian music and dance. I needed the laptop for that too.
I've not done a carry and camp ... not sure I could!!!
