Hi everyone. I seem to have become the owner of the tent named in the title, I'm sure it is original as it has that old tent smell I remember from my dad putting his tent up in the back garden when I was a child. I'm not entirely sure I'm ever going to use it as the wife and I have an infaltable tent already, but I did put it up today, albeit wrong as I'd left instructions at home, but it was definitely freestanding. I would like to sell it but I've seen such variations in price I don't know what to value it at. I've seen new ones going for £499 which I think is steep. Inner tents alone for £75. I'm hoping to get some realistic valuations from proper campers :)
This site has a for sale facility as do many others...
Ebay, Gumtree, Preloved, Life in the Wilderness and so forth.
A good F10 will always be desirable...a good one.... with preferably the cotton fly as opposed to the nylon variant.
Any tent will find it's own level.
Value depends on condition. You need to put it up and photograph it, then spot any obvious faults.
That old tent smell may mean it was packed wet and it was rotted in the bag. Even Force Ten poles have value though.
I did put a link for the pics although it seems you can only copy and paste it. It is definitely cotton flysheet which shoes typical sun fading. Everything else was in very good order, poles had no broken springs , zips all worked perfectly, all the rubbers for pegging out were fine. There is possibly something missing from the inner tent on the outside, looks like a couple of guy rope tags in the middle but nothing attached. Groundsheet had no holes and was the crinkly, noisy type in modern tents, felt softer and more supple.
There are guy lines either side as you said and there should be corresponding connections on the inner to attach to the side of the fly.
The groundsheet sounds like an F10. Thick and almost like pond liner.
Saw the pics. Looks like a typical used F10. Most importantly the A frame connectors are there. Those things always get lost and cost about 20 quid each.
As for price. If you put it for auction you will be surprised for what you can get. I wouldn't sell it though. It makes a great weekender tent.
