Hi. Just a quick survey about camping for my final year major project at university. If you could answer these 9 questions that would be very helpful. Thanks!
Question 1 has more then one answer if you are a camper. You do wear thicker clothes, we do have a portable gas heater, put the tent up properly to stop undue draughts. EHU is mainly for the hair tongs
I got round difficulty with Q1 by answering in the 'other- please specify' section. (All of the above except bag liner and disposable heat packs). I do use an electric fan heater if I have hook-up, but only intermittently to take the chill off/dry out/air the bed. I'd never leave it on all night or anything like that. If it's cold enough to need to do that, I don't want to be in a tent at all! The questionnaire doesn't give the opportunity to point that out. Coldest night I ever spent in a tent, I didn't have hook-up at all. Brrr...
I did tick that cold negatively affects my experience... that’s if I get cold. I don’t: I wear good quality clothing for the season and have a SIM, which is good ground insulation, and a sleeping bag for the season. Put on an extra fleece blanket if needed.
It is the damp and the very early dusk that puts me off winter camping.
I always camp with a fire, which is nice and warm for sitting out by, but cooking in the dark is a pain.
My camping style is very back to basics. Accessing EHU means Tents are too close together for my liking. And I don’t like the idea of using a heater in such a badly insulated space as a tent. Like using a patio heater outdoors. It seems wasteful.
I don’t want to take more kit or stuff.
It’s all down to individual preferences and camping style.
