Seasoned campers here and have just decided to add a 5m canvas bell tent to our collection as we are due to go to Scotland in early March. Our normal holidaying tent is a Coleman Galileo 500 plus the extension for anything over a 3 night stay. We do like a bit of luxury (space) and can fit the whole caboodle in the Galileo and extension. I did research the canvas tents and decided that 5m was plenty but am now regretting not getting the 6m. There will just be 2 of us on 2 single raised camp beds, wood stove, table and chairs and a camp kitchen. Does anyone have a 5m bell tent and can reassure me that this is going to be big enough please?

Would have thought that plenty big enough: but of course (as I keep mentioning !) the diameter is not all as far as floor space is concerned, especially if using raised beds.
Have you put any thought into wall height? It can make a helluva difference to accessible/useable floor space. Also, if you need even more room, awnings can be added

2 of us use a Blacks of Greenock Solace 4 metre bell tent, (reviews on site) which has higher walls /doorway than many, and there's space for tables, chairs, stoves or other paraphernalia.

The Solace range will require the fitment of a stove flap.

5 metre is plenty big enough for two...Few pics of our various interior setups.









Plus you can always extend it with tarps.

Thanks guys! Geoffprinter wow! That is a virtual palace! So as we speak in the midst of storm Ciara we decided that as the tent needed weathering we would put it up in the back garden,it just about fit and put it up yesterday teatime (insane perhaps). Standing strong so far, but as we plan to be out and about early March in Scotland we needed to know that it would cope with whatever the British weather could throw at us. We put a few things in to give me an idea of layout and space as my spatial awareness is dire and realised that we will be fine. Tarp will be added for the washing up stand, muddy boots etc. Also surprised at the minimal flapiness in the wind and how light it is inside. Very excited for our first outing now.

We have a 5m bell, and canopy, 4 of us and a dog. We have a double, kids have vango beds which turn into chairs, new for this season.
No probs for us, have a large (wide) storage unit in front of the centre pole, the top has kettle, cooker on ect, underneath for clothes, large fridge at the side of the door, extra seating under the canopy, with a table in between.

I forgot to mention, 1st thing I did was fabricate a new heavy duty centre pole, if you are in Scotland in march I personally wouldn't want to use the supplied pole.
Not that one has broke on me, but they are a little thin walled for my liking.

Wow, your set up looks amazing. Have taken on board your comments about the pole. Where is your canopy/tarp/extension from please?
