Hi, Has anybody gone camping with a disabled dog. We are fostering a dog that has lost the use of her back legs, we have wheels for when we are round and about, but we just cannot think of a way to sleep her at night as usually she sleeps with us in our room. She is nappied at night, but we are at a loss how she will sleep in the tent with us.

Thankyou

OMG now you are taking us for a trip down memory lane. I can not say about camping as we had a caravan, so I imagine it is a question of how large is your tent? Our van was large enough for her to sleep on the floor by the toilet door. In fact I modified the door so we could open it without disturbing her.
We did experience a degree of criticism while walking her in her “go-cart” as we called it. Our dog had this problem 25+ years ago and we had to import her wheels from a company in USA. She clearly enjoyed regaining her mobility and there is much I could say, but it would probably bore some on this forum and possibly some may even be critical.

We wish you enjoyable hours with your dog.

Your dog on wheels story is EXACTLY the sort of story I want to hear around a fire pit! 😁

Why can't your dog sleep in the bedroom of the tent? Ours does. Us on campbeds, him ont floor. Sometimes me ont floor with him if grandkids come for a cpl nights too.

My brother has used a dog cage in a tent, the base acts as a tray for canine incontinence. It's currently in use for his Akita Labrador cross puppy so the she can get used to living with the cat. I found my nephews friend in the cage hugging the puppy last time i was there.

You may find dog wheel unable to cope with off road terrain at a campsite. a folding camping trolley may be just the thing:

Rough terrain was no problem for our dog in her go cart. Took her a while to re build her stamina, but she did eventually get back to her old walks.
One day, crossing a field, we came across a group of dog walkers who were giving us a critical look. We stopped to chat, but failed to notice that our dog’s favourite enemy had entered the field. She suddenly took off in her wheels chasing across the field and it took quite an effort for me to catch up. Everyone laughed and were then convinced she was still enjoying life.

Here are a couple of photos of our dog in her 'go-cart". These were taken before the days of digital cameras. By the way, she was called Scooby Doo and was the original Scooby. All the films were made about her later
