All depends on specifically where you are camping. Difficult to predict actual weather in the Lake District, one valley can be foul, but the next relatively fine as they radiate like spokes of a wheel, mountains channelling it up one valley but providing shelter in others! Common joke in the Lakes, don't like the weather, move to the next valley for something different!
I'd take a look at where you are camping and it's relationship to the direction the weather is forecast to come from (now there's an act of faith - believing a weather forecast!), if you are in the full force of it, maybe sacrifice the w/e rather than suffer, if you look like you may be sheltered, perhaps take a chance.
Spent a fortnight in Coniston (in the caravan) last year and it was perpetually foul, with rain barely stopping and cloud base about 100ft, but drove out to other areas and it was glorious.
Must admit though, a caravan brings with it an air of bravado with regard to weather, but a tent (but I do still tent camp, and survived Storm Miguel in France last year!) makes you think hard!
I'd say take a lot more heed of the specific Lake District weather forecast than the general forecast, the Lakes truly have their own micro-climate! 45 Years of visiting the region and walking the hills has taught me a lot about the area!
