How cold is too cold? When it's bloody too cold!!
The blue tent to the left of that pic was my tent, and that was my first cold weather trip when I discovered butane does not burn well at low temperature to my cost!
DK
Hello DK, that was the trip I discovered a convector heater doesn't work in such a large cold space and was very grateful for the loan of your gas heater as back up...even though I have since learned that gas inside a tent is not recommended - lol. At least it prevented me from dying of hypothermia
Great memories, eh? Love to meet you again some time when this pesky virus has gone.

Phuff! Just a few flakes of snow, Bernie
Actually, I will take that back. It must have been one hell of a snow storm because in the time it took you to collect your camera from the tent and walk away a short distance to take a photo...all your footprints were covered
That was when we came back from the pub. I was back there last week but not camping this time, too many idiots camping at the moment because their foreign holidays have been cancelled.

I think I would have booked a nice warm room at the pub, Bernie

I'm feeling cold just looking at this lot, never mind camping in it! Some great photos there. Waking to frost is as cold as I've ever camped. I have to say that I'm becoming more and more of a fair weather camper as time goes on; I just get too creaky in the cold and damp. Good luck to those who do fancy it, though!
My sentiments exactly! These days if the temperature dips below 15 degrees it's enough to keep me snug and warm indoors. I just don't do cold anymore.
The coldest Ive camped in was -15oC in Glencoe. I almost had to crack my tent in the morning to get it small enough to take home.
Thank goodness it was only one night because as toasty as I was in my 5 season sleeping bag with hot water bottle, hat, gloves, everything was soaking with condensation in the morning. I think night two could have been uncomfortable with no way of drying anything.
