Hi
Trying to improve the sleeping situation for this season. We have nice 7.5cm SIMs but if the ground is cold they go a bit flabby overnight. I’m thinking of getting thin foil-covered foam mats to put underneath.
Thoughts please and any recommendations for a good sturdy make (or are the cheap as chips ones good enough?)
Thanks.
Have a look at the foam interlocking play mats, or the ones made for workshops in Halfords. You could use them across the whole sleeping pod as an insulated floor.
Not sure how they compare to the foil backed roll out mats, but I don't think paying for a foil back will be worth it - the reflective effect of the foil reflects minimal ambient heat, it doesn't actually insulate from the ground, as far as I know.
Air condenses when cold, so why not blow a couple of breathes into the SIM to make it firmer before going to bed?
Interlocking foam mats are good and economical, however, they do take up space in the car.

Quality SIMS are insulated or use a closed cell mechanics mat underneath.
(or of course as suggested a couple of the thinner interlocking garage jobbies...?)
