Yep Anderson do loads of different types of DC connectors handy for connecting hi power DC stuff up to batteries 200amp stuff and more etc, but the PowerPoles are at the lower power end of the range, you can solder them, but I prefer to crimp using the IWISS Ap-153045 tool that is specifically designed for all three PowerPower pole versions.

Jackery to name but one firm fit the PowerPoles onto there solar generators, so they are slowly starting to replace the 12v cigarette connector as the connector of choice for 12v.

The work very well and give a far better connection than a cigarette plug, which can often work loose, no chance of that happening with a PowerPole.

Just watch out if you buy some, as there are plenty of fakes around which are not as well machined as the genuine article, at about 60p each for the genuine item it’s really not worth buying the fakes unless you are in need of hundreds of connectors.

Yeah I have been having a look at them. They seem a much better connection than the cigarette lighter ones!

Yep, I am using one of the Anderson SB50's well two to be fair, so that I can connect a 300watt inverter directly to my car battery, I will be using a 40amp fuse running a 26amp load.

The SB50 comes in three flavours Small, Medium and Large depending on what gauge cable you wish to use, in my case 10mm2 (AKA 8 AWG) which is good for 70amp on a 1m run although I will be using about half that length.

This will allow me to quickly hook up the inverter without having the faff of crocadile clips, the inverter will only be used for short periods say 4 minutes, whilst the car is stationary with the engine running.

Just enough time for my in car kettle to boil 400mls of water, so that I can make a pot noodle !

Hahaha enjoy your pot noodles!..... I'm going away this weekend, I can't wait to test my solar battery pack!.... Got myself a 12v TV, 12v strip light etc so all should be good fingers crossed

I have two Hubi 10k's in our tent, one on the main room and one in the porch/ kithcen area, these run the ligghting and have USB charguing as well. They work a treat as I never use EHU

Yes sorry I should have done. Set up was brilliant for the weekend. I had a 12v TV at night just watched 1 movie. A strip light and just charged my phone's up and the next night my battery was full again. Absolutely made up with it. I'm going away again in a couple of weeks for 10 nights. I will give a full report after that but so far so good 👍👍👌

Great news boyer, ten days will be a good test for your set up, all depends on the current bun of course, I am looking at adding a 200watt solar panel and MPPT solar controller to my just about portable 26kg 120Ah battery/inverter box set up.

As we can’t get to France this year, I might just do some solo off grid car camping in the U.K. if the summer turns good, won’t be using the cotton Cabanon tent though will take the Hilleberg Nallo 2 GT instead, a remnant from my cycle camping trips back in the day.
