Hi there,
I want to get away camping in Scotland with my motorbike. I am looking for a site where I can have my bike beside me. I can't find anything obvious. I like small quite sites, preferably near the sea, not too far from central belt.
Thank you

I have had many happy weekends away on my bike, I don't do it very often now though as the OH prefers the camper. I have never really had a problem at any site, most touring sites allow you to park your car or bike on or next to your pitch. The only problem I found was the side stand sinking into soft ground so don't forget to pack your stand puck. What sort of bike have you got? I have been to two sites in Scotland, Sallochy on Loch Lomond and Kilburn Campsite on the west coast. Both were very nice and friendly sites.

I like the Tiger 800, but like most dual-sports/adventure bikes, they are too tall for my short legs. My bike is rather more old school, I ride a Honda ST1100. I have done a couple of European road trips on it now and find touring on a bike much more enjoyable and interesting than by car.

Barns Highland Campsite, near Nairn allows motorbikes. We camped there last year and it was very popular for those doing the NC500.
We are comfortable campers with our equipment in the car.

The tiger is the lowered version, just about the same hight as my old ZZR600. Might have a wee look at the Nairn site in the future. thanks weeAID

Ive not found any issues putting the Tent up next to the bike. Although I note a few sites want you to park in a allocated area and ferry your kit on a trolley. Agree 100% get a side stand puck, as sorts it out if you are on the grass as previously mentioned very easy to overbalance the bike when loaded up with gear( my FJR1300 nearly ended on its side) Pricing varies a lot some treat you with a reduced rate as a hiker/backpacker others it makes no difference.   I know you mentioned the Central belt location, but if you get chance head for the West coast, I found the ferry prices( to Mull) reasonable for a bike and the roads are pretty special. As I write at the moment a lot of sites that usually take Tents arent doing so this year
Just enjoy it

Thanks for all your advice, I will defo take a puck. I am a bit wary of the wt. Been away before in the ZZR to Moffat CCC site, they were ok with bike but a few sites I have been to with van have made tenters park away from pitch. Think I just need to bite the bullet and go! I do fancy Mull.

Just saying... I donated an unwanted but serviceable tent to my preferred campsite; the owner later told me she'd given it to a motorcyclist who'd allowed his tent to touch his hot exhaust pipe while setting up, which melted a hole in the fabric. Ouch!
