Hi All,
I am looking to get back into Camping or possibly even a caravan in the medium to long future, but for now I think it will be a tent.
I have talked my partner into giving it a try and she has two children (13, and 10), and I have an 11 year old daughter who has experienced camping previously.
So I have a Trailer with all my gear in which I am going to have to go through before we head off (at some point), and in it is a Outwell Montana 6.
Now I think the Montana will be good enough to try camping with my partner and her children, but if it goes well and I expect it will we will need something bigger I would think.
Some time ago somebody recommended the Kampa Studland Pro Tent (this was before they went air), and I have looked at the reviews and videos of this tent and it does look like it will fit our needs (with 4 bedrooms), but it is a bit pricey even 2nd hand which is probably the way we'd have to go if we went for this one.
Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with this or similar tents?
PS Ive also posted a question about caravans but I dont think that will be this year.
Have you considered adding temporary/pop up bedrooms to your existing Montana 6 tent, at least as a stop gap measure, looks like you have the room in the living area. You can easily collapse them in the day to utilise your living space as normal.
We use them in our 6 berth tunnel tent when the 'lads' (ha ha, we're all in our 50s and 60s!) have our 'boy's jollies' to motor races and don't relish getting too cosy with each other by sharing the fixed bedrooms!
I have a 2017 Studland polycotton air and we love it. I did not pay anything like full price. We have a family similar to yours and it does us well. When the weather is nice you hardly need a tent at all, just a few bivvy bags and you are done, but the larger tents come into their own in inclement weather, as you can cook and eat in the large porch area away from the elements.
It is incredibly easy and quick to pitch. Peg down the four corners, pump up the tubes, have a beer then peg out the guys. I have used this tent all over Europe, in both fine weather and horrendous weather and it has stood firm.
The only downside is that it is a big heavy lump.
I am sure any tent will do though, so perhaps give the Montana a whirl for a short trip and then see what gives.
Thanks Guys.
I think thats the plan at the moment anyway - but going forward it will have to either be a larger tent, or do something with the Montana (which as you say is a big tent).

Would children of those ages...or certainly very soon....not prefer their own tent/tents?
That's the similar reply I posted in another thread - to consider getting a pup tent rather than to spend a lot of money to get a bigger tent.
