It's normal for car insurance to ONLY cover third party risks on trailers, may extend to theft of/from when SECURELY attached to car if you're lucky (that'd be rare!), but once detached, no cover whatsoever.
Travel insurance 'may' cover depending on policy, you'd have to read terms, and likely pay extra premium for the value involved.
Typically camping gear 'can' be included on household insurance, and covered by 'away from home' clause, but you may need to specifically list and value it, and of course pay extra premium.
