Hi
I’ve been camping a few times before with my dog, so I know he camps well, but that was also with my ex partner. I’m contemplating having a cheap break away in the tent with my dog and I’m wondering if there’s anyone else out there that’s done it and how you navigate showers and toilets. My dog doesn’t do crates either.
Thanks
If the dog is reactive, put a windbreak up to block it from seeing other dogs or people from approaching your pitch if at all possible.
It works for mine.
Mine is tethered all the time either outside or inside except when we go to sleep at night as he is a champion chewer and would go into the cab or at the back of the van to find things to chew if he can!
As far as I am aware, he did not bark when inside the van on his own (I stood outside to observe the first 3 times), however, he would whinge when tethered outside if I walked away from the van just to throw some rubbish away!
DK
Edited to add that my old dog was also tethered inside the tent when I was a tenter when I went to use the facilities block.

My dog isn’t reactive, he’s quiet and I’ve been camping several times last year with the dog and my ex partner. It’s more advice on what solo people do with the dog when they shower and go to the loo. Thanks
This is a pretty common topic, you’ll find plenty of threads already if you do a Search.
As for showers & toilets, that was a recent question. The short answer is “no dogs allowed in showers & toilets” (assuming it’s not an assistance dog). You’ll need to tie the dog up outside the tent or to your car or outside the toilets where it won’t trip anyone up.
There are certainly copious posts about camping with dogs, but there only appears to be one about camping alone with a dog.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
I camped a lot with my dog, who has passed a way. I wouldnt leave him in the tent. I would tie him up to a post, or rings for a dog. fine for when washing dishes or showers. Now and again depending on weather, he would be popped into the car, where he would have a kip.
