Some years ago Scouting Magazine informed us of the National Scout Indoor Camping and Activities Center. It was exciting, the floor was covered in a geometric grid for installing the tent pegs for any type of tent. Electric campfires would take place in assigned areas.
If I remember correctly this was in the April edition.
If you are in a building you don't need a tent, you need a bunk. The Youth Hostel Association operate a international network of bunkhouses or hostels.
With modernisation you may even get a family room.
You won't need to carry a stove as they have kitchens and even allow you to order cooked meals.
As wardens and staff have become more proffessional they do the cleaning for you, in the old days you were expected to volunteer.
All sounds a bit like a camping showroom to me; like a camping showroom, could be on any industrial estate & not out in the country; might be useful for housing refugees temporarily if it’s in walking distance of shops.
However, I suspect anything like this out in the countryside will now house turkeys, formerly free range chickens etc, since they have to go under cover due to Avian Flu.
When I read the OP's post, I envisaged a large barn, straw underfoot and open doors. You wouldn't fit many camping units inside though, so not sure how lucrative a business it would be.

Absolutely agree, looks like staying in a caravan showroom!
Rather defeats the entire objective of the great outdoors, which is the draw for me. May have got soft in my old age and use the caravan more than a tent now, but don't fancy 'camping indoors' if that's what it's like!
With instruction leaflet of how to turn off gas water electric at home, and let them camp in their living rooms.
Of course offering it as a cheap winter break with snow covered views
------------- Yesterday is already a dream and tomorrow is only a vision, but today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope.
I nearly booked that indoor caravan place as it came up as a cheap option when I was looking for accommodation to visit my son in Bristol. Then I realised it would be a total party den with all night noise etc and changed my mind.
I’ve seen it at an indoor festival/conference in the Harrogate Convention Centre but just for a few nights and I assume (as we didn’t actually use it) that you would need to be prepared for a lot of noise!
Just wait for the Metaverse to introduce camping holidays then just don your Virtual Reality googles & enjoy. Given how many home comforts folk seem to need when camping I'm sure it'd be popular.
