Has anybody tried to create their own blackout bedroom for a belltent? I know they are available to buy and I have heard of using garden weed membrane over the inner tent. But have you tried to possibly dye one? Love to know what you used and if it worked out well. Im thinking of using a large tub and suspending the bedroom upside down keeping the groundsheet clear of the dye.Is the zip affected in any way? Thanks.
this depends on the size of the inner tent, and the size of your washing machine but i have dyed using the pod things you can get in supermarkets. SSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOO so so simple and no mess.
the other thing you could do is use the outdoor spray dye which i have also used in the past too. you just mask off what you dont want a different colour and then off you go spray it all over and leave to dry i would say in your case to hang a big plastic dust sheet in a garage and then hang the inner tent up.
the second method works out the most cost effective way, but you do have the risk of the spray being in the air for a while so you need to get yourself covered up in a paper suit
Dye doesn’t take well if it’s artificial fibres.
If it doesn’t work well enough, I lined our Motorhome curtains with blackout curtain lining - it’s silver foil material on one side & cream material on the other. It might be possible to sew an inner cone shape & suspend it from the central pole.
