20+ Years and the only thing to go missing was some Penguin chocolate bars.
The site only had 2 tents on it, including ours. The other tent had a toddler with 2 women, I guessed the toddler had gone exploring and struck chocolate gold!
Theft isn’t limited to things in tents. Staying at an Edinburgh site now & there are posters up in prominent places warning about bike thefts. The site has bike lockers, or alternatively advises removing saddle, pedals & anything valuable. Reviews say the thefts happen at night even if the bike is locked onto a Motorhome.
I’d forgotten being a witness to theft of food from a tent - by the owner’s two free range dogs, which nosed the zip open.
Some years ago, I had a grey squirrel break into our tent. It ate some of the breakfast cereals and left bits scattered about.It left the sugared cereals and white bread so it must have been watching it's figure.
