Just in case any of you lovely people were thinking of coming down our area. This was in our local paper.

I've never camped on this site but I've walked past many times though not recently. The restrictions and average speed cameras make it an unpleasant drive on the M20 motorway.
I think I bought ice cream here once. It always looked like a nice campsite.
In 2007 Folkestone had an earthquake:
https://www.kentlive.news/news/nostalgia/day-folkestone-rocked-one-kents-3858501
There was damage in the town but a section of cliff collapses in Folkestone Warren.
Kent has had a really wet winter, the ground is sodden and motorbikes are chewing up public footpaths.
It's sad but not really surprising that these cliffs are suffering subsidence and collapse.
The Channel Tunnel passes under these cliffs.
------------- Enjoy the liveliness of the syntax.

------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

Nooooooo. A favourite retreat of mine for solo camping and revisiting places from my formative years growing up near Dover. All that rain has done what it did in the past that formed the 'Little Switzerland' area. Chalk on top of Gault clay if I recall my old geography lessons. I wonder if it's affected the railway?

This used to be the place where the late ginandtonic and I used as a bolt hole whenever the stresses of modern life were getting to us. To lie in the tent ant be lulled by the sound of waves on the shingle; walk over the cliff to the fish market, them throw them on a barbecue. This was where one of our dogs got so excited running down to the beach, they never realised there was a six foot drop off the concrete apron. It’s truly the end of an era.
Oldbury Hill has gone too, just leaving Canterbury, a much more corporate affair, to serve Kent for the C&CC. And the West Kent DA has folded too. (Note to self: must start going to meets, and doing my bit)

That is a shame, we stayed there in 2002 (I think). I seem to remember a picture of it being on the club credit card, one of which I used to have back in the day.

Was your dog ok? Our Harry once jumped down a cliff in Norfolk, about the same distance, about the same time as he tried to get in the sea with 4 very large seals which he must have thought were big dogs. OH had to hang on to his lead.
Sorry, just seen this. Well, she yelped a bit, and was very embarrassed, then went back to chasing her ball. Frankly, we just laughed, once recovered from the sharp intake of breath!

BridgeyWidge: sorry you have lost a favourite site, but have you tried Kingsdown, not too far away?
I have done a few happy solo camps there.
And was planning to visit Folkestone, as I have never been.
No, not been to the Kingsdown site, but I know of it and the area. Zetland Arms on the beach...
What a shame you can't go there ... it was a gem (and may be again).
