Hi Rebecca and welcome to the best Camping Website. I joined the CC and C Club but did not think it good value as some of the sites were not as good as they should be and if you complained you tended to get ignored. There are lots of others who would disagree with this but I would not join again. There will be a link no doubt somewhere on the internet, and I would also try one of the search engines e.g. Google to find it.

Happy camping.

Best wishes

Hi, we joined this year and you certainly get value for money. Some of their own sites are a bit expensive but you get what you pay for and they give you lots of help and advice plus a magazine every month along with site guides. you can now book club sites on line, they have a policy on their own sites of absolute quiet between 11pm and 7am. we have stayed at hayfield and ravenglass this year and are going for 2 weeks at scarborough. check out the website as you don't have to be a member to look round it. Used to be very biased toward caravans but are getting better all the time. costs £30 for the year and you can join online,at most campshops or through a member.

best wishes simon.

Hi

I think it's a matter of your personal circumstances & what you want. Personally I think it is only worth joining if you are mainly going to use C&CC's own sites. These sites charge by the person rather than by the pitch. Just by way of example the charges at Scarborough mid-season (outside school holidays) are £6.30 per adult per night & £2.10 per  child. The corresponding charges at Beadnell Bay are £4.30 and £1.80. They both have family deals £15.75 & £11.30 respectively. You can use these sites as a non member but then you have to pay an additional £5.00 per night pitching fee so, if you look at it this way, after six nights camping you have recovered your membership cost.

I like C&CC sites. As i8mud says they are quiet - no pool, no bar, no cafe - but that is what a lot of people want. They are tidy and clean, I have always found the wardens to be helpful & friendly, and you are guaranteed a set amount of space for your tent.

If you are not sure just drive over to the nearest C&CC site to yourself and have a look around & see what you think. Whichever way I hope you enjoy your camping.

Care to elaborate on that ?, because, judging by their latest magazine, I can't see any evidence of it.

Hi Simon
As long as it doesn't contravene any copyright issues of UK Camp Site, you are more than welcome to send him a copy of the magazine review that I did, under the Camping Mag thread.

the good thingsare good rallies, good holiday sites. the club sites you can get the same with the cc.the club sites are good if you want a definete quite at 11pm, but the rules and regs for the rest are over protective. they have taken the fun out of camping for the people who camp on a regular basis

Personally I think there are a number of different types of campers these days, those that like the 'wild life' those that like a few comforts, those that like as many home comforts as possible, and sadly those who make a complete nuisance of themselves.

The CCC discourage the 'idiots'  and provide for all but the ' miles from anywhere, wild campers' for the rest they provide the best of both worlds, elec for those who want it, and non elec for those who don't, BUT they allow both groups to camp together on the same site, which personally i think is great.

I do think there are a few too many caravan/tent combined areas, but apart from that I think their sites are clean and well maintained, and you get what you are expecting, plus a good network of regional groups/meets. there's not much you can get for 30 quid that provides the returns that CCC membership does.

I'm a member and reckon its excellent value for money.

I suppose it depends on how often you intend to camp and where. You'll have acces to the lakes from Lankie and there are some really good  club sites up there.

For what you pay what have you got to loose?

I was a member for 17 years and left because of illness of my wife, but in all those years, we loved it, especially the Feast of Lanterns held each Autumn, and the friendships made. So much so following my wife's death at  Christmas I have rejoined, I will let you know how they take to lone mail campers once I get rallying again.  By the way how does this club cater for those unfortunate members who no longer have partners to enjoy their caravaninning trips with, it is not a crime to on ones own?

absolute quiet after 11pm on ccc sites?  so no good for people who want to sit under the stars with a glass of wine chatting til the witching hour then?
