just purchased a Vango aspen 700 to use as a weekend tent (thuoght it would be easier to erect than our very large sunncamp grange ) How wrong could we be !! Just given up after several attempts to get the thing upright and a couple of phone calls to the shop !

Does anyone know a foolproof way to get it up and if so would you be kind enough to share your knowledge? We saw one at the weekend on a campsite and thought what a lovely tent and read alot of reviews so it must go up eventually!! Our grange is a doddle in comparison !

Any info very much appreciated - want to go away in it in a couple of weeks !

thanks

Helen

All i know is its an "inner first" tent where you put the inner up first, then throw the flysheet over the top. Quite new model but someone must have one. come on guys...

good luck.

I think Towsure in sheffield have one of these on display, give them a bell if its miles away. Or take some cold beers to your first campsite and offer them round to anyone prepared to help out..

we're just as helful in the flesh you know

Hi Helen - dont panic!! the 700 isnt too bad to put up after a bit of practice
First thing is to peg out four corners of the inner/ground sheet - especially important in windy conditions.
Get the roof poles into the colour coded sleeves &
get the side poles ready in the correct positions around the tent. Then start lifting the roof poles from one side, with one person inside the inner to help support the roof poles. Once the upright poles are in on one side, start on the opposite side - again with the person inside helping to lift the roof poles. Once this side is up put the front and back upright poles in. Then insert all the pole ends into the "ring & pin" things and clip the clips onto the poles. You should now have a free standing inner. Peg out as per instructions.
Pull the fly sheet over from the front with one person each side. Tie the flysheet ties around the poles & again peg out as per instructions. I peg out the black hooks seperately as I think it works better, but most seem to hook them onto the "ring & pin" rings.

After a few times and when you know what your supposed to be doing - its easy to put up. My wife and I manage it now without any problems

Hope this is helpful
you've made a great choice of tent by the way.
All the best
Richard

Thankyou so much for those tips . We will endeavour to put it up again at the weekend in my Mums field (found our garden a wee bit small !) Hopefully we'll have it down to a fine art soon !

Many thanks

We have returned from the Norfolk meet this weekend & managed to get our Vango up in 35mins & all ready to use in 1 & half hour. This was only the 2nd time of erecting it & we are complete tenting virgins, so if we can do it so can you.

We do it very similar to Richard but we do not have anyone inside the tent when erecting the side poles mainly because I'm too short to support the roof. I just hang on to the back pole until all the side poles are up. We also insert the ring & pins as we go as it seems to give it more stability.

Good luck

Sharon

We have just erected our brand new Aspen 700 for the first time in an hour and a half, basically to the same method as RCRichard!

We would like to say thanks to all the contributors of info on this tent as we read all the reviews before buying and then again before pitching (in the garden!) and we have had no problems at all. (However, we have discovered that we could do with a much bigger garden!!)

Its a fantastic tent and we can't wait to use it properly.

If anyone in the Staffs area is having problems pitching the Aspen we don't mind coming to give you a hand, just give us a shout!

Lambster and OH xx

Yellow, purple and green tagged poles in first, then the two reds.  Doesn't figure, but it does seem to help!

vango have a video on their site ...Vango Video of ASPEN also theres a very good step by step blow of the erecting the vando here provided by deamwolf vango aspen erecting tips.

we have the 500DLX and the first time we pitched the tent we had it up in 40 mins, we dont have anybody inside we just put he legs in & then pin& ring , its a bit of a fiddle , but what a great tent !! honestly we have looked at loads and i dont think you can beat it for space & light, bedroom pods are fantastic and the DLX is great the extended porch area in a realy good addition.
