and he even takes his xbox now aswell...omg!!! how awful is that??? but still we get away from the every day crap and worries...and we love it!!!

Well, everyone to their own, but why anyone would want to take a telly when camping is beyond me! One of the pleasures of camping is getting away from the bloody thing.
Agree entirely. But we do take the portable dvd (for when the kids are bored, in the car). We also take headphones (so that we don't have to listen to every movie whilst travelling) and use them if we ever watch it in the tent since sound does travel through canvas and I don't think my neighbours want to share in our every movie moment! (Wish everyone would consider this, since I don't really go away to hear the whole of Corrie from the next-door tent, but seemingly have to sometimes!).

I take the dvd player but its just for wet afternoons. My daughters out running round like a heathen most of the time with the other campsite kids anyway and that's what it's all about We take things like uno, cards and a few travel games.
Last year there was a strange family pitched behind us, he had the car door open with the radio going full blast, took the owner a couple of hours before he came to sort it out. Once he'd been told to turn it off he decided he'd let the kids play cricket with a proper cricket ball amongst the tents, it hit the back of our tent and if anyone had been standing at the back it would have knocked them out!

We're taking a small TV for the 1st time in June (england world cup match!!) - but we're hoping to get some headphones and the match won't be on late anyway. We don't normally bother it's nice to get away from the box for a few days (and we don't normally have EHU), but each to their own I say and as long as people are considerate with the volume/lateness I don't really see a problem.

Hi I think that the problem is not that people take the tv it is how much time they spend watching it, most people probably imagine that those with tv's are clock watching and forego any other activity to watch a certain program, wheras i don't generally believe this to be the case.
We don't take a tv as me and husband barely watch it at home anyway, but we do take v-smile pockets for our two boys (3&5), but we met a lovely family last year who had everything tv, dvd player, radio and games console however the amount of time they spent using them was minimal, it was there as a back up if the weather turned or in the morning whilst waiting for other (lazier!!) family members to wake up.
Seemed ok to me. they did keep sound well down too.
------------- Finally camping under CANVAS.

Exactly melpa ....... just because peeps take them it doesn't mean they sit there all day/night watching them
We take ours ...... but rarely get to watch it ....... but then I can say the same for 80% of the stuff I take !!!!!!!!! ![[8D]](https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/forum_images/smiley36.gif)
