Have you looked at the pitching video clip on Khyam's website? I would provide a link, only my computer seems to be playing up a bit tonight and I cannot seem to access it.

If it will ease your mind, we bought a Rigipod Excelsior from 'them' and used it over half term and it was absolutely fine. (Actually, it was more than fine ... it was wonderful! So much light and space! I would even argue that it is easier to put up than our old Rigidome Classic - there seems to be less pegging.) It stood up to some windy conditions no problems, even with only half of the guys pegged in (I'm sooo lazy!) and also some light rain. We didn't notice any problems when we put it up in the garden before we went away, and then it had to put up with a couple of nights of heavy rain.

You will probably find that yours is ok,but the salesman told me there is a bad batch. And that there are good ones available but this would be pot luck.I am not trying to make you feel as if you have made the wrong choice, but telling you what i have been told.Hope you have a good one

Are your poles all okay, with end cap firmly affixed? Have you tried constructing the porch poles, just to make sure the ends do not come off in the inner poles (as was problem with ours).

I do hope you have no problems with yours. Still waiting for response on our faulty tent, as he is now claiming it was returned because we changed our mind and is ignoring the fact that we sent around 20 emails asking for replacement poles because ours were faulty and the end caps were returned in an envelope, because they would just not stay on! Actually has told us that he does not read our emails so we are now resorting to sending letters, by registered post!

NOT what you want, when you buy a new Khyam!

Hi Liddenham, thanks for your reply.

Because of time/weather and garden restrictions when we received the tent, we have only managed to erect the main dome and one bedroom pod - but saying that AND having found your thread (only once I'd ordered and paid for the Excelsior) we DID check the poles etc and they looked fine and the tent fabric was clean. So you never know I may be their "customer of the month" who gets the one decent tent they have in stock!!    I will continue to watch out for your update on your tent saga with interest.

STOKEYBOY, I have already had a reply from the 'Guys' at Khyam to my email I sent this morning (Now, that's what you call SERVICE, ASPINALLS if you're reading this) - saying that they did have a problem with a small batch of Ridgi-domes in 2003 but the Ridgi-pod wasn't introduced until 2005 - So we should be waterproof too.

But until we get rained on or get to use the tent in anger we won't really know - Fingers crossed. PS I made sure that Khyam knew I was a member of this web site and I'm aware of Aspinalls reputation.

Regards, Elaine
