Just in case anybody is interested......

After much umming and arrring we decided to upgrade our small dome tent to a Vango Aspen 500 last years model (as there isn't a lot of dirrence in the 2006.... but price).

We ordered from Taunton Leisure on Sunday evening (over the internet) and got a prompt email on Monday saying that my item had been dispatched.  It cost £269.99 and P&P were free for orders over £100.  I thought it would take days if not weeks to arrive beenas I never paid for postage....

BUT HEY.... what service..... it was at work Tuesday morning (all the way from Exeter to Nottingham)!

So I can thoroughly recommend them

tauntonleisure.com

Just can't wait to use it now!!

Roll on spring.........................

Hi DaneR

I am just downt road from you..... live at Toton and work at Nottingham University... small world isn't it!

Only started camping LATE last year and absolutely loved it.... first trip was to Stragglethorpe (pub across the road - which is a real bonus)!  Are thinking of going back there again as the free range chickens really made it feel like you were in the middle of nowhere - ha ha

Hi Anga

pleased to hear it is a fantastic tent.... months of research sound like they have paid off well for us then.  Can't wait to try and put it up now... pity this weekend is going to be a little too chilly!

Roughly how long does it take you to put up your aspen and is it a nightmare if it is drizzly?

Spooky caz... we only got back into it "late last year!". Our first trip if you like was to a field in the manifold valley with out 15 year old canvas jobbie. Despite being a bloody awful place despite a pub across the road, we really enjoyed it. The company I guess and a LOT of beer.
We went again august bank hol to skeggy and then a weekend at callow top Ashbourne (great place but don't tell anyone ).
Well and truly hooked now and trying in vain to work out how we ever stopped in the first place.

Hiya

A LOT of beer (or wine in my case) turns even the most rotten site into heaven..... the only downside is piddles in the night I think we are going to invest in a special pot (a bucket with a lid) for future trips!!

Heard callow top is brilliant and wouldn't mind trying there at some point...... stayed at Grouse and Claret on way to Bakewell last year.. great pub not bad facilities etc and only £7.50 per night (bargain)

Heres hoping for a good weekend SOON..........................

 Hi Caz

It took us about an 1 1/2 hours and that was the first time.  Ours is the 700

As far as putting it up when wet. You probs already know its inside first so you will have to be quick as you dont really want to get the inner wet.  Its a good idea to take ure shoes off when erecting the inner tent, we now have a few footprints on the roof inside.....

We had our 700 up in less than an hour the first time ,would say les than 10 mins before we could throw the flysheet over ,so if it was raining very heavily I would wait a while  ,either that or find a way opf working under the fly !
