Thank you all for your prompt replys. It is really appreciated. This buying a family tent lark is a night mare there is so much to choose from and then you are unsure about the makes etc.
I have a Gelert as my weekend tent....I prefer it to the Vango in many respects. The only thing I didn`r like about it when I bought it was the pegs...the pegs had the L-shaped profile top. I changed them for crook-top pegs as I think they`re more secure. Apart from that one cheap modification, it was a great buy. I`d definatley buy another Gelert.
I have the skydome 6 (see images) a huge family tent, well put together tons of space if the door was wide enough you could get a car in. I replaced all my main guy line pegs with Delta's and boy was i pleased having suffered gale force winds last Oct..... the tent held the wind and the rain. An all round well built tent, and at affordable prices
But then again everyone will tell you that their tent is the best thing since sliced bread. Horses for courses I suppose.
We have the Gelert LV6 and after using it for nearly two years and about 25 camping trips we are well pleased. Only improvement needed, and made, was the purchase of a front canopy.
I had a Gelert Colorado. My only complaint was the zip of the inner. Only used it twice and the zip broke. I emailed Gelert twice but never had a reply. Having said that the tent withstood torrential rain that lasted several days and not one drop of water came into the tent. Perhaps I was just unlucky because a lot of members of this site speak highly of the Gelert tents.
