I bought a second hand kynam and it is very good... ..... However am not totally convinced there is a vast difference in pitching time to justify the price.  I also find I need a second person to hold the tent to make it really easy otherwise it can be a bit of a game.  Also the purple which is very dark does absolutely nothing for me big time, the one I have is a pleasant blue thank god.

There is no problem threading through poles as long as the sleeves are not difficult and quite a few of the tents these days have external type sleeves. 

Yes they are good, hate the purple colour..... they are expensive for what they are....

We've a Blue Roan Cocker too!!!! She's almost 4 and LOVES the sand dunes at Shell Island. We haven't been camping with her yet as she's rather over-friendly when kids are around and I'm afraid of other people not taking to her jumping all over their kids! She is as soft as anything and used to kids as we have 3 aged between 18 months and 12 years, so she has had a fair bit of ear pulling and never flinched. She does get very over-excited though and would hate to be tethered down the whole time - in fact she would probably bark the campsite down!

How do you manage camping with your Cockers? Or are they tremendously well behaved?

We are thinking of taking her to Shell Island when we camp over this year as there is a fair distance between tents there and she can have a good run about without disturbing others!

AT LAST I've found two nice days together to try erecting the tent (Tourer 200) on the back lawn. I'm glad to say there have been absolutely no problems. It took me forever because I kept having to bob back into the house to watch the next bit of the DVD but I'm sure I'll get faster with practice. It's huge by the way and I can't believe I was capable of erecting such a large tent.So all I have to do today is to take it down and get it back in the bag and then I can plan where I'm going with it.

I've read all this with interest, as in an almost similiar way, I need to put up a tent alone as I take my two young children away when my hubby's leave has run out. So far, in my small experience, I've found that the tunnel tents are better although a slight wind when hauling up the guy-ropes leaves me swearing (gently under my breath as little dears are under my feet "can we help mummy?"!). I've always been curious about Khyams as people rave about them, but the prices are too high for me and we don't have many tent sale places near us so don't see any in the flesh so to speak. Just been to the Cotswold Outdoor tent show, mainly Vaudes' and Outwells' but yet again it has me yearning to add another tent to our collection, thinking that 'maybe this one will be the one I can put up quickly'.... addictive this camping lark isn't it?!

I'm pushing 60 and 5ft 3". I wanted a tent I can stand up in and tried an Aztec Merida. Actually engaging the ring and pin system and raising the tent off the ground proved very difficult. I had to beg/accept help on a couple of occasions last season, which goes against the grain somewhat. I got the Khyam Tourer 200 from Aspinalls   http://www.caravans-camping.co.uk/  on recommendation from others who have contributed to this thread. It cost me £105 including postage ~ about a third of the rrp. I'm really happy with it. It's taken me a while to erect but it has been easy to do. I'm not sure it will be faster than any other tent I have had but I know I can manage it alone and that it will get easier with practice. It sounds as though Aspinall's stock of  seconds is running out. I'm not sure where you will find a stockist in your neck of the woods but you could try the Khyam website at http://www.khyam.co.uk/

i  was born and bred in Whalley, now live in Gt Harwood. know sabden well, used to play on park nr the river, cos had cousins who lived in Sabden.

we love our old khyam tent, even though it is the 4oz fabric and very heavy!!!hope you enjoy camping in yours,sure you will!
