would be a bit wary of some models if they're seconds - we sent back 3 screenhouses last year (nothing to do with the site selling them thats mentioned) before we got a decent one where the folded poles hadn't made holes in the fabric - very flimsy skin on a good frame.....others might be fine though???

Hi Furbie

There is a thread just below this about Khyams and someone has just posted that he bought 2 and cant find any faults on them .They both look perfect. There was also someone else who bought and could only find a small patch. I think am going for a Classic XL at the weekend so I will let you know what it is like.

If you are concerned about them being seconds then another post mentions the Khyam Tourer 200 for £120 at GO Outdoors.

Furbie

have a look at the thread "How easy ARE KYHAMS easy to put up?" - everyone that has brought the seconds so far from Aspinalls seem very pleased

Bought the xxl last year as a graded second and had absolutely no problems with it. In fact, got it out of the bag for us to check and couldn't find any problem and still haven't been able to!

Slider72 has bought two of them and seems very pleased with them. I'm looking at getting one at the end of the month because I have heard they are good value.

i bought a khyam ridigpod excelsior from aspinalls on friday.it was advertised as a second.

i put it up on saturday, and the material on both the tent, pod and inner tents have never seen the light of day before! they are immaculate,no marks whatsoever on any of them, have no patches of any kind anywhere, and the whole thing doesn't have a single flaw in the material that i can see,and i looked very hard all over the thing, including the seems.

the poles that attach to the porch and pod have been used for possibly a demo erection as there was a bit of noticable dirt on the bottom spikes, but other than that there isn't a scratch on any of them and i can live with a tiny bit of dirt on the area that is going to get dirty anyway as thats all that will happen to them on their first outing.all the knuckles and joints on the main tents are absolutely brand spanking new so the main tent has never been out of the bag.

the bag itself has a rip about 2 inches long on the bottom of one of the corners, but again, who cares? i can get the wife to stitch that up in 5 mins.

ok,the tent hasn't been out in the rain yet to give the seems a good once over, but i have every confidence that it'll be ok.

here's what i got......

khyam ridgipod excelsior, bedroom pod,4 berth bedroom pod inner tent,4 berth porch bedroom inner, all the poles plus a set of ovehead canopy poles thrown in,tent tidy, main tent bag and pod bag, anda shed load of decent quality L-pegs (not that they're needed though seeing as i have around 100 top notch T-pegs)......all for 310 quid!!!!!!!

honestly, this tent is not a second! the guy said before he handed it too me that he thought it was one of the brand new ones, but wasn't sure.sure enough it was,but as i say the porch poles had been used for something, possibly erected once for a demo on a previous khyam returned tent hence why they may have called this one a second.....who knows?

one things for sure,i'm more than delighted with my purchase, and all being well first time out in the rain i'll be going back for either a screen house (if i can manage to find one in the rarer blue to match the tent then ever better) or maybe a gardenshelter.

nice bloke to talk too as well, seemed very helpful and wasn't too difficult when i started the haggling (which,i might add, does work!).

10/10 so far!
