Hi all

We had two weeks in Dorset last year... was so hot I had to get up because of the stifling heat in the tent!  Yehessss!   It's true I'm telling you!

One week at Sandford Park and the other at the Outdoor Park (beautiful place).  Sandford was great for the kids but the pools were scruffy and dirty.  Had a good time nevertheless.  As for the Outdoor Park....you must go there.  It's lovely!

In the words of that Arnie chappy...  I'll be back

Hi there! Just tried to check a web site for The Oudoor park, god knows what ive come up with, certainly not your camp site!

Any chance of a web link pleeeese?

Cheers

Susan

We used to use Rockley before and after it was taken over by Haven, albeit in a privately owned van ( which was exceptionally good ) The privately owned area is very good, every where else not so. It did go rapidly down hill in all aspects after Haven took over. To be honest I wouldn't go back again in a private van let alone camping as having walked around the site we were quite concerned about the camping area facilities and that was three years ago. Poole on the other hand is a beautiful place and Sandbanks beach is on a par with the Maldives, Sri Lanka and Hawaii. Forget your deposit find a different site!

Here's where we stayed a few years back, Birchwood Tourist Park it's in Wareham forest just outside of Poole and it's a really nice clean and level site, also it's very central for visiting Corfe,Swanage, Lulworth and Durdle Door.

hi its wendy again, i previously mentioned that i live in poole. i have also stayed at birchwood tourist park and it was really good, the security was second to none. however i think wareham forest site is marginally better than birchwood and its right next door. both are really popular during the summer months , i,ve also stayed at beacon hill which is another poole site. this site like the other two is in woody surroundings ,and this one has a small pub on site.all three are in my opinion better than rockley but they don't have the entertaiment etc that haven sites offer.     wendy

As a local resident I note no-one has mentioned the council estate immediately the other side of the railway line!  In addition to those already mentioned, try Wareham Forest Touring Park, Wareham (10 Miles East) or Merley House touring park (5 miles North of Poole) - accessed directly off the A31 south of Wimborne - there is also Sandy Balls camp site at Fordingbridge (but ideal for the New Forest). they are more expensive though, but you get what you pay for.

Poole is a beautiful place, and the beaches are about the best in the UK.

Not quite sure what you're implying with that comment?

Rockley Park is not a good site except for the entertainment/ clubhouse crowd.

We stayed at South Lytchet Manor site not far from Rockley Park, whilst it has no clubhouse the shower facilities were good. They cook a mean breakfst and it has lovely owners who will send you in the right direction for anything you need and it is close to lots of fantastic facilities. Farmer Palmers Farm Park is just up the road for the kids and you can walk to the Bakers Arms for a meal and drinks. There is also a fantastic new Farm shop just up the road selling organic and local produce.and of course the beaches are the most fantastic you will find in England!!!

the council estate nearby has a really bad reputation but has improved over the last few years as Young people grow up, move on etc.
