Hello Ladies & Gents

This breathable groundsheet issue messes with my mind?

Groundsheets supplied with tents near on 100% of the time are not breathable ? Right or Wrong= Why would any body want a tent where the outer elements ie the Rain Mud Weather Bugs etc can enter your part time abode a 3000/5000 HH is pointless if you have a groundsheet which will let simply let the flavor flood in.

So what is the issue is it that campsites are simply turning people away because they do not have breathable groundsheets, or is it that they prefer you to underline your Factory fitted groundsheet with abreathable one underneath ?

Also just for records has any body been refused a pitch on the above grounds (Non Breathable ground sheet.

:I Fancy a couple of trips to Cornwall this year any you Ladies and Gents up for it...? We are in for a classic Summer...

IE/ I have outwell L with sig what is a primate like I to do

cheers guys gals please advise.

Hi

My understanding is that campsites accept that no point to breathable groundsheets with tents with SIGs.

I just ask the campsite when booking if its an issue and so far for me it hasn't been.

Leezo, campsite owners are aware that bedroom pods have sewn-in groundsheets and are not breathable.

When they ask us to use a breathable GS they mean in the main living area, or if you have a caravan in the awning.

If you are staying for more than a few days some, if not most, sites will ask you to either lift the bedroom pod occasionally, to let the air get to the grass, or actually move so the grass can recover.

When we stayed for ten days at Fforest Fields last year we moved our tent onto the empty pitch next to us after 5 days.

If the ground is dry when we pitch then we don't use a GS in the main living area. In the evening, when we kick-off our shoes for the day we just put down a couple of picnic rugs with a waterproof backing.

never had a problem with not having a breathable groundsheet and never been asked to move after 5 or 6 days either but maybe something to do with the tent we have see pics, and would be annoyed if we were asked to move considering the time it takes to pitch our tent. Friends of ours own a camp site and never worry about breathable groundsheets as the grass always recovers in the winter

I have never run into this problem either.  The only time I have seen it is when they are talking about caravan awnings, and this is usually a different area to the tents.

Hi Leezo, we have a frame tent, so this would be a major upset to decamp just to move to another pitch. Fortunately we have not had this problem up to now.
