These tents have good reputation, but watch out for the slope angle on the bedrooms - can be very annoying

Welcome to the forums Maxp

Play around with the search facility and you'll find lots of discussion on the Diablos.

As far as I'm concerned they're the near perfect family tent. Not everyone seems to understand that bedrooms are for lying down in

Hi Maxp & welcome to the forum!

We have had our Vango 600 for about 7 months now & have found it to be a good buy, plenty of room in the bedrooms for 4 of you, a large living area & a massive porch area, the only down side to this tent is that its inner first, not great if you have to break camp in a torrential downpour (as we found out!)

there is alot of choice in the large dome market & no doubt others will have their own favourites, but for us its the Diablo!

Hi, we looked at these before buying our Aspen. They are really good quality tents. I would go for the 900 if I were you, I don't think you'll need a bigger pitch for it?

We were also concerned about the height in the bedrooms, my hubby has a bad back and I like to stand up to get dressed and don't like crawling on my hands and knees. Happy choosing!!

Fantastic tents, loads of space, there are six of us and two collies, easily accomodates us all.  Very sturdy too, we have camped in very heavy rain and high winds with no problems.

Diablos were the must-have tent in 2004. The market has moved on since then so you should be able to pick up a Diablo these days at very competetive prices. And, judging from this messageboard, a lot of people still rate them very highly. MT

We were like you when choosing, in the end we decided to spend the most we could afford and draw up a list of important features. Then it was a case of which ticked the most boxes and which 'felt' right for us. As I said before, being able to stand throughout the tent was a big issue, we also wanted a SIG and lots of light inside the tent. It's what works best for your likes/dislikes and needs.

If you like the look of the Diablo I would suggest you have a look at the Campus Brekenridge ( now Khyam) which is of a similar size and style but has more support and head height in the bedroom areas.

i think the diablo is a great tent and would say go for it, bets looking at displays though to see which size suits you best. the living area is BIG and we have no compliants. some people go on about the bedrooms sloping, but it isn't as bad as people make out, and anyway there is a Big centre room to get changed in if you are struggling.

Look if your thinking of fine weather camping then you can't beat it. It is a large tent and can take some time to pitch. The porch area isn't good in high winds.

If i was you i would go for a smaller tent that is lighter and easier to pitch.

I used to have one now i have a much smaller trekking tent.Three Minutes to pitch.

Sorry to dissapoint

Well I am 5 foot 6 and I can almost stand upright in the bedrooms...can pull trousers on easily  We have the toilet/bucket in the porch area and we tend to get washed and dressed in there anyway. If you need to REALLY stand up to get dressed...ask everyone else to leave the tent in turns to get dressed! You could do summersaults in the inner!!!!!!!!!! There is nothing wrong with the bedrooms...we use them only for sleeping in as there is PLENTY room in the inner for socialising! Sloping sides remind me of my first tent...a Lichfield ridge tent! (orange and green!)

we had the diablo and the only downside we had with it was the length of time it took to pitch.  My OH is not renowned for his patience and the last time we pitched the diablo the OH chucked the mallet down the field in temper so the start of our weekends usually started with an argument.  So we went and bought the montana 6 which OH found easier and quicker to pitch, went up in about 20 mins instead of an hour and half.  I think its a good idea to remember who is going to be pitching the tent and whether or not they have a good temprament
