Hello All!

Apologies for my own version of war and peace but here goes!

I've gone camping in the past, usually one off trips with friends or fishing, maybe camped 2 or 3 times a year tops. Last month I took part in the plymouth to banjul challenge and took my trusty campus torino 3 with me across france/spain/morocco/mauritania/senegal and the gambia. There were some hotel stops (for showers primarily [;)]) but most of the time we were camping either wild or in 'proper' (i use the term loosely) campsites (waking up, looking out of your tent to see you are camped above the cloud line in the mountains was amazing!).

So now I am back and having donated my tent, sleeping bag and other misc gear to charity in the gambia decided that I enjoyed the camping so much that I would buy a new tent and make an effort to get away a bit more this summer. Rather than the small 3 man dome I had before, I needed something that would accomodate myself, my girlfriend, a two year old labrador and a labrador puppy (picking him up in a few weeks time). After doing lots of research, umming and arring and nearly ordering different tents on a couple of occaisions, I decided I liked the look of the Khyam Amazon Deluxe. It appeared to have bags of room inside, simple to put up a large porch area for chairs, small stove etc. Not liking the idea of spending all that money without actually seeing it first I found a place in Frensham (camping world) that had an outdoor tent display (great service and advice too!). Popped along and saw the previous (campus) version pitched in their display and I was sold!

So I now have my tent, airbed, sleeping bags, stove etc ready to go... just need to wait for the weather to warm up a bit (and for the puppies house training to kick in!) and we are off and really looking forward to it! [:D]

Many thanks for reading this far! [;)]

Stuart

hi and welcome to the site Sounds like you've had a brilliant time so far and long may it continue - I 'm sure someone will be along to chat about your tent choice as I'm a bit rusty - if you ever think about a Combicamp then I might be a bit more useful!! Like you I'm waiting for the weather to warm up as I seem to hate the cold this last couple of years - or rather the wet and the mud!! Have a look at the meets section as I'm sure you'd enjoy them too, and we could get to hear the stories from your travels....a few members have been away travelling this year.....

When I first came on the site I found the wealth of information that the members' shared with everyone was just amazing

I'm pretty well kitted up the season after having spent a couple of weekends testing out my new gear. Most of it was chosen after advice on this site.

All being well hope to do about 60 nights this season
