Hello All!
Apologies for my own version of war and peace but here goes!
I've gone camping in the past, usually one off trips with friends or fishing, maybe camped 2 or 3 times a year tops. Last month I took part in the plymouth to banjul challenge and took my trusty campus torino 3 with me across france/spain/morocco/mauritania/senegal and the gambia. There were some hotel stops (for showers primarily [;)]) but most of the time we were camping either wild or in 'proper' (i use the term loosely) campsites (waking up, looking out of your tent to see you are camped above the cloud line in the mountains was amazing!).
So now I am back and having donated my tent, sleeping bag and other misc gear to charity in the gambia decided that I enjoyed the camping so much that I would buy a new tent and make an effort to get away a bit more this summer. Rather than the small 3 man dome I had before, I needed something that would accomodate myself, my girlfriend, a two year old labrador and a labrador puppy (picking him up in a few weeks time). After doing lots of research, umming and arring and nearly ordering different tents on a couple of occaisions, I decided I liked the look of the Khyam Amazon Deluxe. It appeared to have bags of room inside, simple to put up a large porch area for chairs, small stove etc. Not liking the idea of spending all that money without actually seeing it first I found a place in Frensham (camping world) that had an outdoor tent display (great service and advice too!). Popped along and saw the previous (campus) version pitched in their display and I was sold!
So I now have my tent, airbed, sleeping bags, stove etc ready to go... just need to wait for the weather to warm up a bit (and for the puppies house training to kick in!) and we are off and really looking forward to it! [:D]
Many thanks for reading this far! [;)]
