Hello Again,

Thankyou to everyone who replied to my intro yesterday. Yes half of you were right I have become addicted to this site and everything to do with camping. (Is that such a bad thing?)

What I am here for is to ask a few questions regarding my tent and the lack of knowledge I have on my own tent. My tent is a pro action family 6 tent (thats what the intrsuctions say) and I have no idea the advantages of this tent or the disadvantages. Does anyone know?

Also I have no idea of the size of my tent in regards to pitches am I right in thinking that some tents do actually take up 2 pitches at a camp site? Does anyone know where I can find all this information out and has anyone ever had/got a tent like mine? Is it a rubbish one or an ok one?

Many thanks in advance. Hmm told you I was a beginner!

Shelley

I used a pro action 6 tent from Argos last year. It was perfectly adequate for the type of summer camping we did (2 adults, 2 boys, 6 and 4). I can't say it was the best quality tent on the site- fortunately we didn't have to test it under foul weather conditions!- but it was quite spacious and had a useful storage area at the end of each pod (make sure the ground sheet is down properly!). When erecting it, another thing we found was it was important to make sure we'd got it in a completely straight line before pegging it or it's hard to get all the surfaces smooth thus as water repellant as possible.

Regarding size, the pro action we had which is almost certainly the same general dimensions as yours, though longish, is nothing LIKE the biggest tent on your average site! Unless you pick an unusual site, I'd say there'd be no problem at all using just one pitch. We had the car AND a gazebo up on our site in Devon.

Happy camping!

What tent do you have now Miljee?

Sounds ok the tent I have but last thing I want is to freeze or be hit with bad weather and then really regret camping, Perhaps this tent i have is ideal for trying camping out and then maybe if we do really like it get a new one however choosing one is going to be quite an adventure with the tents I have seen past couple of days.

Give it a go! The one thing you can never rely on is the weather! But if you do go down the line of getting a different tent have a look at the ones on the site your at. You can get a realistic idea of how the tent looks like with people’s kit inside, something you have to try and imagine at a showroom!

I have found many people to be of great help when I have asked them about their tents.

We have this tent - it was used over 20 times last year and with no problems. It's a doddle to  errect  - we could normally get it unpacked and up in 20 minutes. Go enjoy!

PS - You'll find two silver ground sheets  - they look similar but are not - one is for the area between thr two Bed Pods - the other goes under the smaller Bed Pod
