I'm considering buying an easy camp tent (probably the cosenza 500 due to its big living space and SIG). When I was calling around dealers to get the best price, a couple of them wanted to make me aware that the easy camp range are budget tents and that they aren't too reliable in strong winds. Can anyone else comment on this ? Are they likely to blow away in strong winds or are they just scaremongering ?

All comments welcome.

Thanks, Gav.

hi

Cannot comment on the consenza as it is a new tent in their range but i have had an easycamp kos 6 frame tent for 6 years and had no problems at all. A friend of mine bought a easycamp dome tent last year and he has had no problems with it having problems in high winds.

They are probably trying to get you to buy a more expensive tent.

i have looked att the consenza at it looks fine to me

ps  welcome to the site join the madhouse

cheers

I have the Napoli 500 and am very pleased with it. OK it isn't Outwell quality, but still very good.

think they're made/owned by Outwell, a good longstanding Danish company, I have the annexe tent as a utilty and its fine - some styles of tent are more secure than others anyway with domes being more stable than tunnels - or have I got that right - you know what I mean anyway...

Hi,

We have the Cosenza. Used it a few times last year and we are very pleased with it. We are a family of four and found the tent to be spacious and it kept the rain and wind out. We are new to this camping lark, so cannot compare it to anything else. Although we have not used it in high winds, it seems quite sturdy when put up so it would not worry me to do so. I think it is a great starter tent.

Good luck.

Gavin

We've got an Easycamp Rhodes 4, which is a frame tent. Again, not used it in what I'd call high winds, but I'm very happy with it, and in fact it's made of a higher-quality material than many tents so is better in rain and heat! Think the person who said they might be trying to flog you a more expensive one might be onto something...
