I'm considering buying an easy camp tent (probably the cosenza 500 due to its big living space and SIG). When I was calling around dealers to get the best price, a couple of them wanted to make me aware that the easy camp range are budget tents and that they aren't too reliable in strong winds. Can anyone else comment on this ? Are they likely to blow away in strong winds or are they just scaremongering ?
Cannot comment on the consenza as it is a new tent in their range but i have had an easycamp kos 6 frame tent for 6 years and had no problems at all. A friend of mine bought a easycamp dome tent last year and he has had no problems with it having problems in high winds.
They are probably trying to get you to buy a more expensive tent.
i have looked att the consenza at it looks fine to me
think they're made/owned by Outwell, a good longstanding Danish company, I have the annexe tent as a utilty and its fine - some styles of tent are more secure than others anyway with domes being more stable than tunnels - or have I got that right - you know what I mean anyway...
i think there something to do with outwell not 100% on that but thinking of geting a smaller second tent for weekends and like the easycamp ones.but the website is allso identical to the outwell one .anyway enough jabbering on can't be bad tents if there something to do with them look good for the prices.hope you get soughted.this is the easy camp website.check the outwell one www.outwell.co.uk they look the same to me.plus it says outwell on web addy.
We have the Cosenza. Used it a few times last year and we are very pleased with it. We are a family of four and found the tent to be spacious and it kept the rain and wind out. We are new to this camping lark, so cannot compare it to anything else. Although we have not used it in high winds, it seems quite sturdy when put up so it would not worry me to do so. I think it is a great starter tent.
We've got an Easycamp Rhodes 4, which is a frame tent. Again, not used it in what I'd call high winds, but I'm very happy with it, and in fact it's made of a higher-quality material than many tents so is better in rain and heat! Think the person who said they might be trying to flog you a more expensive one might be onto something...
