Hi Lofty
we have the same tent from Makro which was given to us by a friend who tried camping and his wife did not like it. We use it when we go camping at weekends and it has not been any trouble in rain or wind at coastal and inland sites.
Yes it is ok if you can afford to buy the dearer well known makes but people go camping as it is a cheap holiday for them.
cheers
steve
well it is cheap once you have bought everything

You are soooo right Jen! Useless! I use the JJB hotplate - not ideal so I would appreciate knowing what everyone else uses.
As for cheapo supermarket goodies, 7 years I went out and bought a £50 4 person dome from Co-op and my NON campong OH (would never ever camp) said "If I go camping I want a proper tent" so I took it back and went to a proper camp shop and bought a Wynnster Buzzard. did me fine.
Last year I needed some sleeping bags and Halfrauds had an offer for the price I would pay for the two bags I would get roll mats and a 2p tent. No probs! Used the tent once and threw it away at 6am in the morning!
So for tents I would get 'proper' ones but accessories are fair game, wherever is cheapest!
Good luck Gary, hope it all goes well, you obviously aren't superstitious

Wow what a response, its nice to get so much feedback.
A few questions were directed to me so here goes.
I should be open on the 1st of april as lond as my PDQ and a few other items turn up. As for easter sunday and monday, sorry not open on easter sunday, its the law but yes to easter monday, 10,30 - 4,30. Re cadacs, ive got to have a meeting with them yet but i do plan on selling them and ill be a low as anyone else re price. I will be stocking the new Camping Gaz vertion which is really cool. Re that toaster thing, no no no. This is the thing, so many camping retailers never go camping so they dont know that some of the products they stock dont work. I will be stocking the single flat toaster thingy. This works well but one slice at a time. I prefer tp take a electric hook up and use a low voltage toaster. Re were we are, Phillimore garden centre, cambridge rd, melbourn, nr royston, herts sg8 6ey. Jct 11 of M11, south down A10 to the first turning for melbourn (big garden centre on Jct) on the left, past first garden centre then turn into second garden centre on right.
I look forward to meeting some of you.
If you like what you see please spread the word. If not tell me.
