after seeing what one of our cats did to our gazeebo when it jumped out of the bedroom window and landed on it, there is no way i would let a cat near a tent. put it this way when it was raining we might as well been sitting under a colander than a gazeeboo

Last week when I was camping for the outdoor show, I met the man whose tent was clawed at York last year. They made a horrible mess of his hilleberg tent. If you know that your pets are safe around tents and are willing to pay the cost of a new tent (mine cost £300+ each as they are lightweight) then take them, otherwise, leave them at home. You wouldn't appreciate me riding my bike over your units without paying for any damage caused, the same counts for any damage caused by pets or children. Their owner's are responsible.

We have a cat - in fact we have had 2 or three over the years - but for the life of me I cannot imagine why anyone would want to take a cat camping!  What if it wandered off?  Would it find its way back?  And what about it doing its "business"?  How would you know where it had been so you could clean up behind it?

<shaking head in disbelief>

We've had 2 incidents in the back garden of neighbours cats damaging tents.  Nothing beyond repair but cannot risk leaving a tent to dry out overnight anymore.  Would not be best pleased to find a cat 'living next door' on site.

Jo
