Oooh I was so excited this morning - the forecast was for SUN SUN SUN and that could only mean one thing in our house...

TIME TO PUT UP THE NEW TENT!!!!

I was so excited. Me & my little helper (he's 22 months)  went out into the garden, laid out all the inner and pegged out, threaded through the 4 poles and HEY PRESTO! it was up in a flash. I was a little concerned about how a 5ft-nothing-me was going to cope getting the fly sheet over, but it was a breeze!

15 Mins later and it was all pegged out and shining like a new penny in the sunlight!

Full sewn-in groundsheets and enough headroom for someone 6ft, I LOVE THIS TENT. We've a Breckenridge Deluxe too (in exactly the same colours, lol) and it takes around 40-50 mins on a good day. That's our 'long trip away' tent, this Yale is our weekender!

Kids are sleeping in the new tent this weekend (prob end up being the whole family, lol) Roll on Easter!!!!!

same here,

i got my new (second hand!) tent out today to try it beofre i go anywhere, and it took me 40 mins with a bit of help holding the middle while i got it up!... and it didnt come with instructions, so was well impressed.....

although i didnt get to do the rear end porchway up as i pitched it in an area too small   i couldnt believe the size of it! far bigger than i expected, i had no measurements with it so didnt really know! and i pooped up on the groundsheet bit.. but i will get it right when its for real.... i hope!

We have one of these tents but we have never erected it yet!  Would you say it is big enough for 2 adults and 2 children for a weeks camping? and also could you post some pics of the tent inside?

I can't wait to get our Yale up!!

Hi R2D2,

I don't have any pics of the inside yet - but it's basically one long tent. You have the option to hang the curtain dividers for privacy if you wish, but we will be keeping it as one big room.

It's definately big enough for 2 adults & 2 children. We are 2 adults & 3 children, but we are only intending to use it for weekend use. That said, when I put it up I did wonder if it would do for our main holidays - but changed my mind when I remembered how much stuff we have!!!

The main disadvantage I would say is that there is no-where to cook. Sure, you could cook in the main area of the tent, but you would need to be careful (I can't remember now if the windows at either end were mesh or plastic, but I think they were plastic.

Great tent though!

Hi all

Im a bit of a newbie to all this. I really like the look of the yale but was wondering if there was a problem putting it up in the rain?

All 'inner tent' pitch first tents will have the same dilema, but the yale is not too large  tent and it's shape makes it very simple to pitch. The advantage to me of having sewn in G/S and more tent stability far outways the risk of getting wet erecting it!

We have the yale and a Vango Diablo 600 which, due to it's shape is a lot more complex to erect than the yale. I'm sure you would be able to find a break in the rain long enough to get the flysheet over the inner tent. (worst case scenario could you sleep in your car?!)

I see what you mean. Its looks such a good tent, that its worth taking the risk. I am just a little paranoid after a very, very wet time on the isle of wight last summer.

It pitches so quickly, you could just wait out any shower and then whip it up!

If you go to Khyams website you can watch a video of the Yale being erected and it is a very simple quick process, which is the main reason we bought it. A bit of rain shouldnt be a problem with a tent that goes up this quick and the inner is polyester so should dry quickly if it does get a bit wet but its never gonna get soaked.

Yes, thanks. I did watch the video and they do make it look easy. Made my mind up and gonna get one. Do you know if the poles for holding the door open are supplied with it, or did you have to buy them extra.
