Have just bought one of these tents in a sale at a local camping shop.  Huge dome living area which has thicker poles a bit like the old frame tent we once had, but fibreglass poles for the bedrooms.  The plan is that with the bigger living area we can manage without taking a gazebo, thus saving money and eliminating the worry that the gazebo might take off in windy weather.  Has anyone got a Lichfield Cascade and can tell me what they think?  Also has anyone had any problems with the size of this tent on campsites?

Hi Shirleyf , welcome to ukcs, I don't know anything about the tent personally, but if you use the yellow search button at the top of the page, put lichfield cascade in and select tent talk, there are a few previous threads there that might help.

I purchased the Cascade 6dlx just before Christmas. It hasn't been used yet allthough we have had a practice down the local park and managed to erect it in about 45 mins but I'm confident we can get that time down by 15/20 mins with plenty of practice. Like you I was atracted to the tent because of the generous living space (well apart from the bargain price!) And as you say no need for a gazebo and stacks of room for all the necessities.

Like most big dome tents I will think it will be tricky to erect in breeze or windy conditions. It certainly needs at least 3 people to lift the tent in position. But once up we found two or even one person was enough to peg out. Size wise I've seen bigger tents than the cascade on plenty of campsites and I'm sure there  will be problems with the many campsites that have restricted pitches. I think honesty when booking is the best policy.Hope you enjoy the tent keep us posted on any tips or pitfalls to avoid and I will do likewise......

Hi Shirley

We bought a Cascade 6DLX last summer and have had no trouble on sites at all. Having said this, you have to be quite careful where you position it on the pitch, as it can be quite tight, and we've always told the site how big it is. Even though it's a big 'living area' which is what attracted us to it (good old English weather lol), the bedroom pods don't come out too far, so it doesn't take up as much space as you think.

I think it takes us about 20 mins to erect now, and it's quite easy with just myself and hubby, although it's even easier with the boys helping!

It's a great tent, and we're really happy with it - hope you will be too.

Lesley
