You'll be fine Shelley, keep your eye on Metcheck or whatever weather site you prefer and cut your cloth accordingly pun not intended. It's better to take too much 'insulation ' for your young 'un than too little I suppose.

Be like Santa... make a list and check it twice ! We always make a list and still manage to forget stupid things, though nothing major ! It's supposed to be fun y'know not an ordeal ! You'll be amazed how quick you fall into a routine, my wife and I don't speak when we're putting the tent up, we just crack on.. we split the pegging, I do outside and Ali does inside, first one to finish cracks the first two beers !!

 It will be a huge adventure for your 7 year old too but be warned.. once he comes home he'll be pestering you to go camping every weekend !   

Don't worry, it'll be fantastic and you'll make friends within the first couple hours on the site, guaranteed. Where are you going ?

All being well we are going to skipsea sands.I am really looking forward to it. Partner is not so enthusiastic about it so want it to go as smoothly as it can for your first time so it doesn't put him off, If by any chance it does looks like it will be just me and the kids, (doesn't sound to bad that afterall lol)

Going this very weekend.

Boat leaves Orkney in just 14 hours time. Two weeks in my tent around the NW Coast of Scotland.

Whatever the weather!

Nah, you're not mad at all. Like us, no doubt, you adore the outdoors getting away from chores at home etc. Getting fresh air into your lungs, maybe walking, socialising and if you have kids - sit back and watch them loving it!! Oh and have a slurp or too of your fav tipple.

We are booked in for a week at Freshwater, Burton Bradstock next weekend (8th) and cant wait.

True, we have to be well prepared for our current climate conditions i.e equiped with duvets, hot water bots, totes, heater etc. But reckon this adds to the fun of it somehow.

So "Go for it" and enjoy your break next weekend.

I am camping at Easter.  I will be taking a couple of hot water bottles just in case it gets too cold.

Went last April and it dropped to -4 overnight, thought we were going to freeze to death! had a good laugh though and it has not put my 10 year old off, he cant wait to go again!

We are going away next weekend for two nights possibly three weather permitting to Peebles with our two kids (3 and 5) and one of their friends. all looking forward to it and could not wait for the new camping season to begin having just started camping last year.

Looking to set up the tent in the back garden to give it an airing and a clean out today.

We went this time last year for our first ever camping trip and we were quite cold at night with just our 3 season bags.   BUT we have now got foil backed picnic rugs to go under sleeping bags and on top of airbeds,  fleece bag liners and fleece throws to go over us just in case.

The kids loved it and it certainly didnt put them of.
