Hi Robbie J. Delta pegs are made from "super tough" (the generic name for this type) nylon composite. It contains minute amounts of rubber to give it impact resilience. When we first had these made, somebody drove a forklift truck over one and it still didn't break.
There are plenty of plastic pegs out there that will break mind you.

 I have got away with normal  pegs never had a problem, but it seem from the comments that deltas are the ones to  have ,they arent expensive so maybe i'll treat myself    ....
