Hi, Im new to the camping scene, infact this will be my first tent.
Im looking for a one man tent to use in Spain in the next couple of months. It has to be weatherproof, reasonably bug proof and anything else which makes a decent tent.
Can anyone suggest good makes that I can look for and what things are important when looking.
Im going on my own so only really need a one man, but if a bigger one is cheaper then that is fine.
As long as it can withstand the weather, bugs and is big enough for a 6' 2" man then it sounds good to me. I only need it for camping in camp sites in Spain, unless I use it elsewhere.
Yes lets not go into Rimmer, there may be kids reading this :)
you'll probably need at least a 2 man tent if you're tall and/or are taking bags. Tent manufacturers base their 'man' ratings on midgets! Will you be backpacking or car camping? Camping in a hot country will mean you'll need a tent with good ventilation and mosquito mesh.
If you run to it, a Hilleberg Acto or Nallo are great - lightweight, easy and fast to pitch with internal pockets and a washing line (surprisingly useful!) inside the inner.

I'll be travelling by motorbike, so I need to be able to fasten it all on the back.
Slightly off topic, but what other bits should I take, sleeping bag, something to carry water, light, what else?
Lightweight backpackers airbed or self-inflating mat. Cooker plus a compact saucepan & kettle set, which usually have a saucepan lid which can also be used as a plate. Mug, knife, fork & spoon. Micro pillow. MALLET. Tent repair kit. First aid kit.
I have both a one man and a three man. I used the one man when I'm going off on my bike cos it takes up less room, but upgraded myself with a trailer for my little push bike, so I could afford something bigger.
I actually loved my little one-maner, but only if I'm not in it for very long! There's a handy porch for my equipment, but the odd shape and opening systems means its impossible to stay dry in the rain when you want to cook anything! The three man is bigger and heavier, but there's loads of room for my stuff and a porch that keeps you dry. Mind you, in spain the rain might not be as much of a problem as here!
It all depends on what your needs are, but I would think a 2 man tent is the way to go, in my humble opinion!
------------- I don't discriminate- I hate everybody.
How about the Coleman Bispace 300 only £37.50 including p&p from www.e-awnings.co.uk.
Approx £90 everywhere else, not much info on website, look at it on something like Wilddays - great make and fast service from e-awnings. Don't know how they can continue to sell it at this price.
