Hi everyone! John and I are thinking of buying a new tent, and have liked the Kyham Classic XL for a while now. Although while browsing a few days ago we found the AZTEC HAWK 5 which we think would really suit us. Before we buy though we were wondering if there is anyone out there who has got the AZTEC and could let us know how easy it is to erect. Because I am partially disabled we want a tent that is not too difficult to put up. Looking at the Aztec, it only has three steel poles, and therefore looks quite easy. Would be grateful if anyone could let us know or even suggest anything else that maybe suitable. We need a fairly large living area and two bedrooms. Must also be able to stand up in the living space.

Look forward to hearing from anyone who can help.

Angela and John

Hi Angela and John. The Aztec Hawk with just three poles looks as though it will be fairly simple and easy to erect.

Not seen one 'in the flesh' but looks a tidy tent, good waterproof standard and with the steel poles will be very sturdy.

I think this tent is new for 2006 so I doubt you will get any personal reviews.

Thanks for the reply Breezy. Been out looking again today and saw the Khyam Yale. This looks a nice tent. Plenty of room.....even with the dogs. Only four poles and a tunnel design, so should be easy. Came home and looked it up on the Khyam website, they have a video demonstration on how to erect it........looks real easy. Anyway, will have to make our minds up soon.

Thanks again,

Angie

Hi, We are also thinking of buying the Aztec Hawk 5 best one we have seen so far we saw it at P J Camping in Romford yesterday looked a great tent. (Hope to go and buy bank Holiday Monday) We only want a weekend tent for 2 adults and 1 child so a great size for us, also nice and tall in the living area and the bedrooms (which are 2 separate pods), which is a must as my other  half is over 6ft just hope that it is a good tent, and easy to erect as we have never camped before!!!!!!!!

Just bought one of these hoping it would be quicker to put up than our frame tent. We had a half hearted attempt at the weekend, hence I am searching on here for some tips.

One thing to note about the Hawk is that although the tent fabric is quite light the poles, being steel, are heavy.

The Sunncamp Ventura is a similar style tent. It has slightly less head room but has fibreglass poles and a sewn in ground sheet.

Thanks for the advise everyone but, we have just bought the Khyam yale. I do still like the Hawk though but thought the yale was easier to erect and had just the right amount of room we were looking for. Hope someone is around to help you with any tips on erecting the Hawk TJ.  Have a great time using it.

Back to AZTEC Hawk 5 - reports please. We are seriously considering purchase as our 'medium size' tent but need to know

1) How long does it take to put up with 2 people? Easy?

2) How stable is it in windy weather?

3) Any particularly good or bad features?

Come on 'tj' - let us know - have you got it up yet?!!

Hi there ,I recently bought an AZTEC HAWK 7 and me and my wife had no problems putting the tent up, in fact I would say it was quite easy.I was really pleased with the quality of the tent and would recommend the tent to anyone.I bought the tent without actually seeing it up and when it arrived I was slightly dissapointed with the size of the living area. But you can fold back either bedroom during the day which then gives you access to another door and this really opens up the tent making it very spacious. And at £176 on offer for a tent thats still advertised at nearly £300 on some sites I would say get one its a bargain.

It sounds good, I have seen the hawk advertised for £149 which is a bargain thats why Im keen to hear about them.  we only camp for 4 days max so living area space isnt such a problem. I think it is a nice looking tent and looks good quality.  I havent been able to find one pitched anywhere to have a look at.  The scenic 5.0 is similar (less doors and windows) but has a SIG.  thanks for your reply.
