hi there, can anyone give me a little bit of advice on a heater to use on chilly evenings and mornings in our tent, please? We have a fantastic hartford XXL and the only thing wrong with it is,is that it is not centally heated!!! We have had a look at the small cheapo heaters that will actually blow out cold air on a very hot day. Has anyone used anything similar?
your sleeping bags are your form of keeping warm, and how does a fan blow cold air out if its a hot day? surly the air be just as hot after its been through the fan.
anyway either get a halogen heater or a get a 2kw fan heater
hi well i use i gas heater if there is a b and n cheap shop near you try them or a good camp shop its about 11 inches wide and 8 inches high it takes butane gas and its mad 4 inside tents i use too for my espace 8
Welcome to the site, this comes up regularly so there are lots of threads about it, you can use the search button at top of page to find out about lots of things, the link below shoud cover what you need to know.
ok smartie-pants wildie, Some of the fan heaters have a facility where you can switch off the heat and the fan stills cools the air just like a desk top fan or similar!!
Hiya have you tried a halogen heater?? That is if you have an EHU, my parents bought us one last year and as yet havent used it but knew that when we go camping we would take it with us!!!!!
We also have a Hartford XXL and use a Coleman Blackcat heater. Its a brilliant heater and very safe as there is no naked flame (especialy with children around) We just put it on for around 20 minutes or so on very cold evenings and the same when we first wake up. It does a great job and is economical to run.
Never heard of using a heater in a tent before. We sometimes turn the gas stove on for five minutes if its really cold, before getting into bed. Wouldn't the heat just escape through the tent? Seems a bit of a waste.
There are lots of different types of heaters available - specifically for use with tents so, obviously, there is a definite market for them. There is no way we would winter camp, with children, without our heater/

Ahaa, that explains it. There's no way we'd 'winter camp' with, or without the children. Our fist trip of the year is next week. I wonder how the EHU systems will cope if electric heaters do become popular though.
